WC pan waste pipe, "push fit" not sealing completely
I've replaced the (90 degree plastic) waste connector to my WC. it has an inner rubber seal and an outer one and should just push fit onto the toilet pan. But no matter how many times I push it on, no matter how fast or slow or hard, the seal always has about 2cm (in different places) that doesn't pop out around the porcelain, and there is a small leak at this point. I've tried flicking the seal out with a blunt plastic clip but no joy. Is there some trick to getting the rubber seals to behave correctly? TIA

Hi, it sounds like the rubber seal is rolling over instead of seating correctly on the WC pan spigot. The most common causes are a slight misalignment, a dry seal, debris on the porcelain outlet, or, sometimes, the pan connector just not being the best match for that toilet. I would remove it, clean the pan outlet fully, check that the seal is sitting properly in the connector, then apply a very light amount of silicone lubricant or washing-up liquid and refit it perfectly straight. If the same section still refuses to seat and continues to leak, I would replace the connector with a different make or style rather than rely on sealant. A useful extra point:
If the connector is under any sideways tension from the soil pipe position, that alone can stop the seal from seating properly.
If the leak persists after proper lubrication and alignment, the seal may be slightly defective, and a replacement may be needed.
Make sure it has lubricant the rubber will pop out every time if not
In my experience pan connectors only have one rubber seal where they connect to the toilet.With a lot of cheap brands on the market I prefer to use Mcalpine .Do not use lubricants such as washing up liquid to push it on a bit of spit should be enough and it should need a fair bit of pressure to get it on .In v rare cases the porcelain spigot can be a different than standard size in which case go to a good plumbers merchant.
The best approach is to apply a light, even coat washing-up liquid to both the porcelain spigot and the inner rubber seal before pushing it on this helps the seal glide and seat correctly without folding. Make sure the toilet pan and connector are perfectly aligned and pushed straight, not at an angle, and try gently twisting as you push in to help the seal settle evenly. or just replace the waste connector.
This is a fairly common problem when fitting a push-fit WC pan connector. The issue usually comes from the seal twisting or folding as it slides over the porcelain outlet, preventing a proper watertight seal. A couple of things to check: make sure both the pan outlet and the rubber seal are completely clean and lightly lubricated with silicone grease (not washing-up liquid, as it can damage the rubber). Align the connector carefully and push it on firmly in one steady motion rather than twisting. If the seal has deformed or stretched from repeated attempts, it’s often best to replace it with a new connector — once damaged, they rarely seat properly again
