Why does our mixer tap only provide hot water?

Regardless of the position of the tap, we only get very hot water out. Do we need to replace the tap?

Advice from 24 local tradespeople

Either there's some debris in the cold water pipe work stopping cold water entering the tap or there's a valve for cold water turned off leading to the tap. If that's all fine then possibly would be a new tap. Craig CLW Plumbing Pontefract.

If your only getting hot water from the tap, this could due to; the cold water cartiage is full of limescale, the tap handle or knob the thread inside has worn, or even a air lock.

could be that the pressure from the cold is not strong enough does the cold run on its own if yes then i would go for the hot pressure over running the cold so may need a pump

Are we talking a single lever type operation, it could be problem with cartridge, if branded or you know where it came from you may be able to get replacement, most taps now have 5 year warranty, so how old is it.

No, need to fix the boiler

The mixer not opening the Cold needs replacing

Could replace the thermostatic cartridge , you can normally order them online

This could be a few different things but I would start by looking at the guts of the taps and clean the parts inside the tap, also check for blockages and scale.

check under the tap how many pipes are going to your tap normally mixer taps have a hot and cold feed

Hello,
In first someone should check plumbing connection to the tap and if is everything correct you will can start thinking about change tap.

Regards Agnes from Building Tiger

First step is to check if there is a small screw inside the mixer that can adjust the mixing of hot and cold water.

you have to change your mixer tap or check cold water supply

Check to see if cold water supply is on, either by stop cock or isolator on wayer feed pipe.

Because its broken.. call a plumber

i assume you are referring to a sink or bath mixer tap? If so, many model have removable bodies inside them for maintenance purposes. sometimes, these can break down and restrict or even block the flow of water from one side to the outlet. Is it possible for you to add a picture?

This problem sounds like it is either there is a problem with the cold water supply maybe the valve as gone or when the mixer tap was first plumbed in it as been plumbed in to the wroung piple work

If a shower mixer delivers cold water only and not hot, if fault is not external source, these parameters may be responsible: dependent on design, diaphragm/disk valve inside the mixer may be disconnected from the control handle, stiff or jammed or worn-out handle. In most cases than not, this can be due to period of use, clogged solid particles of limestone caused by the hard water during heating up as it commonly seen in kitchen kettle. You either replace or repaired, calling the professional.

Possibly may need to replace, although it could just be the tap not opening on the cold side.

Its a possible fault with washer on cold water supply of mixer.

Hello , that could be tap issue or if not is gonna be Hot water needs to low the temperature from the boiler ,

The seals inside the mixer tap maybe perished or limescale build up in the mixer tap itself.

depends if it is old it could just be the tap as come apart inside so when you think you turn the tap on you are only turning the head and not opening the tap

Check hot water tap site.probably is not open.

Get professional to come and find out what is wrong it may be from installation.
