What is the standard size of cartridge for a mixer tap?
I have a mixer tap with shower on my bath and it seems to be leaking quite a bit. I was told to replace the cartridge but I have no idea how to tell what size it is in order to replace it. Would anyone know if they usually have a standard size?
Advice from 3 local tradespeople
There's 2 sizes easy way is to switch off the main take out the chartiges and go local plumbing shoop
They can come in 35 or 40 mm cartridges it would best to remove the cartridge and take any markings on it to locate a replacement it should have a maker's stamp on it or a part number
Hello, it depends on what type of mixer tap cartridge you want as there is a difference, one cartridge will be a quarter turn type valve, one will be of a compression type (washer) valve, a plastic cartridge for mixer taps or a thermostatic shower cartridge. All these valves vary upon size and type of tap/mixer/shower type that you have.
You can always take a photo and ask your local plumbing merchant ie plumbase, city plumbing, toolstation etc.
