Header tank venting?
Should there be hot water venting into the small header tank?
Advice from 2 local tradespeople
Hi there
No not consistently it sounds like the system is over heating
Call a plumber as the tank can become unsafe
Some gravity feed systems have a hot water vent pipe, usually off the cylinder which vents the hot water into the tank in the loft usually . As hot water density changes often and for safety reasons like the cylinder thermostat /element over heats the water by fault causing steam
