Emergency plumber pricing

Hi,

Got back from holiday to find ceiling cracked and water drenched. Called plumber at midnight. They came went through ceiling and checked upstairs flat. No cause found or remedial work carried out. Was charged £195, live in Manchester. Was overwhelmed as just moved in, back from being away and women living alone. Was I overcharged?

Advice from 5 local tradespeople

My opinion says yes but this would depend on how long the plumber was there looking for a problem so with current information not able to say whether you were indeed overcharged

Yes you should'nt have been charged that much I am a emergency plumber and I charge £170 per hour if I carry out work if there is nothing I can do I charge £60 I hope this helps

Emergency night call out can be pricey, some people wait to the morning then get a plumber out.

Most definitely I take your either a young single female or easily influencedone I don't mean this in any degrading way sometimes it is better to have a male around in times like those as I'm sure the price would have been reduced some what thanks live and learn

If you called a plumber at midnight, then his price will be high and you should have asked if there will be a call out charge or not. Usually there is always a call out charge on all emergency
