Double or single radiator - confused
Hi!
I need to get a radiator that emits min BTU of 3985. I’ve found one I like, it comes in:
- 550mm x 826mm double
- 4651 BTU
- £232
550mm x 1180mm single
- 4131 BTU
- £219
Both fit the space; they both say ‘wall to face 103mm’ but is the single not slimmer?
What do you recommend, should I go with the lesser BTU?

Single panel rads are slimmer however you can turn brackets round to make wall to face less 2 sizes,go with double if not sure,without calculating various things such as window/doors make .height of ceilings,insulation,flooring type ,size of room,age of pipework /system ,,even then it’s not an exact science so go bigger to be sure
BTU is recommended for property to be heated enough. You can go with lower or higher single or double…. As long as there difference in BTU not great
Always with bigger. Manufacturers measure at different conditions.
