Gas Servicing/failure and issuing gas safe certificates
I have a gas boiler and a gas fire in the same house, if the gas fire fails its service but the boiler passes can a certificate still be issued for the gas boiler on its own as the plumber we used for the job suggests not?

It would be marked down as not safe and caped off sticker would be put on the fire and cap the supply to it. Our heating engineer would carry out a tightness test and ensure boiler is safe and if happy would provide you with your gas safe certificate.
The Gas appliance that failed the Gas safety service & Check will need to be Capped & Labelled wit a Warning notice, The Other Appliance that Passed the Gas service & Safety checks will be issued with a Gas Certificate.
All gas appliances in building must be check for it safety and if it's possible the said gas fire should be made safe or de-commission.

Yes as long as the fire is cap of it can be and a do not use warning note is applied and a un safe appliance cap and disconnect from the gas supply hope this helps
yes it can, each appliance is listed on the landlords safety certificate seperately, if there was a problem with the gas fire the engineer should have isolated and made it safe and issued paperwork explaining the problem

No they cannot unless you have the Gas Fire dis-connected and capped off so that it cannot be used or you get the problem resolved with Gas Fire
