RCD tripped
Hi All, my RCD just tripped in my consumer unit. I turned off my Circuit breakers and reset the RCD, which stayed set. I started resetting the CB's until I got to the kitchen sockets CB which tripped the RCD again. So it's a problem with the kitchen socket circuit. I unplugged EVERYTHING in the kitchen and the RCD still trips when I turn the kitchen socket circuit breaker on.
What else could it probably be?

Sounds to me like theres a fault with an appliance which cannot be switched off, either that or a loose cable could be the problem
You could just have a loose connection in one the sockets.

Could be boiler,washing machine,fridge,dishwasher extractor fan
Check the wiring in the plugs also you may find mice chewing your cable or rats if they are underneath the floor board's.
If you haven't identified which appliance may have contributed to the RCD tripping I would advise you call an electrician to carry out appropriate tests required.
Try disconnecting all your kitchen appliances and reset breaker, then plug each item until trip
It could well be earth leakage from a kettle, dishwasher or washing machine if still plugged in
Have you isolated cooker, cooker hood (normally missed) etc also the garage or something like that isn't supplied from the kitchen is it? It shouldn't be but you never know there are some dodgy types about. Good luck

If the rcd is still tripping with everything unplugged its suggests a fault on the circuit, which will require and electrician.
It could be rats or mice but that would need looking at its an earth fault. The earth cable is touching wither the live cable or neutral. You need an electrician. I can do that job for you. You can call me on 0741541046. My name is Jordan.
Hi, you have to find the problem point on kitchen circuit. May be somewhere the neutral and the earth is tuch, or your some socket is break and fault.

You have carried out all the correct and necessary steps to identify the problem. This proves you might have an issue with the kitchen wiring which can be checked and tested by an electrician. I will suggest you put all the rest of the circuits back on with the exception of the kitchen circuit for the time being until the problem is resolved.
You do have a fault but it could also be a faulty rcd. It would need to be ramped tested to double check
Neutral to earth fault cable has come loose behind a socket and touching the earth or backbox
Usually when this happens its something like a Kettle, Toaster, Microwave that causes it to trip out. If you cannot find fault then suggest you call an electrician
You may possibly have either a fault on a cable in that circuit, a faulty socket front or something as simple as a wire caught on a screw in a box
It could be a burnt out socket connection or maybe damp

By the sounds of this its seem the wiring on the circuit may be faulty.

Hi Bruce, its a real pain trying to locate these problems im afraid, the simplest thing to do is check any outdoor sockets and lights that might have been added to the circuit as they are prone to filling with water. After that im afraid it needs a proper inspection as it would mean taking off socket fronts and checking cables for damage , which is electrician territory.
when testing remember to actually remove the plug as there will still be a connection to earth.
My advice is you tried the safe cost effective method now is time to get professional help
Have you unplugged hob/ oven, fridge washing machine all low level appliances
