How to paint fresh plaster?

Fresh plaster will need a 50/50 mix of white emulsion and water to allow for a key for the final coats of paint

To paint a dry plaster wall
1.Clean all dust and debris off the plaster, and lay down dust sheets to protect the floor
2.The porousness of the wall means you have to seal the surface first. Create a sealant by combining four parts water-based paint with water, or by mixing four parts of an oil-based emulsion with a PVA adhesive. If you are painting a bathroom or a kitchen, use an oil-based paint or one specially formulated for bathrooms or kitchens. Don’t be tempted to skip this step. Plaster is so porous that it will suck the moisture out of your paint, causing the paint to dry out and flake off
3.Mix the liquid thoroughly.
4.Paint this mixture on the walls as you would normally paint a wall. This thinned paint will fill in the pores in the wall, and if you listen closely, you can sometimes hear the wall sucking up the liquid.
5.You can apply another coat when the first is dry if you want, but it is rarely necessary.
6.If you want to paint the plaster before it has fully dried, use a microporous paint, which is designed to have tiny pores that allow the plaster to dry properly. Though this paint will cover the look of the plaster, it is usually recommended that you coat the microporous paint with regular emulsion once the plaster has fully dried.
7.Paint the wall as usual.

you must water down the paint you intend to use by 50% putting neet paint on to fresh plastered walls will scarab crack, work out how much paint you require to paint your newly plastered walls make sure half is 50% water, two coverings will be more than enough to seal an prep ready for any paint to be used

Use water Base mix that is normal paint and you mixing it with water stir antil the water blends in it should be watery. Apply one coat and wait to it sets that will show you if there's any filling needs doing and it will also obsorb the firs coat of paint. Do not buy any silk or eggshell to mix the paint with ordinary paint use white

Always use a 50/50 water emulsion mist coat first. Pva also ok.

I use white paint middle class to which water was added paint should not be dense recommend to wipe the walls of abrasive paper 80. Regards PNZ

Once plaster has dried out ideally 24 hours
First coat of paint should be watered down 1/10 ratio
Aplly the watered down coat leave to dry
2nd and 3 rd coat aplly neat paint

NORMAL WHITE WASH

50/50 cheap emulsion and water and give plaster a decent mist coat to seal the new plaster and give a better background for top coat of paint. As plaster is very porous if no mist coat is applied then generally it sucks the paint in so much that you need numerous coats of paint to get a nice finish.

Use a 50/50 mix with 50% water and 50% emulshion and roll it on.

On large sites, watered down emulsion is used, generally white, although magnolia is ubiquitous also.

Always use contract paint on new plastered walls and ceilings,when dry paint in chosen emulsion.

Matt paint as it water based any colour you want but first coat 50/50 as this give the paint a key then when dry apply standard paint two coats thank you

I would let the plaster dry, keep a windows open. I would use water based eggshell. It will give a low sheen surface with excellent water/damp repelling properties.
