Garden Decking
We’ve had quotes to have our decking done in the garden. The quotes were a lot more than we were expecting. Would a joiner build us the base for the decking only? So we could maybe cut back on labour and do the rest ourselves. It’s the only bit we’re going struggle with is making sure the base is correct. Hope someone can help advise? Much appreciated

Getting a joiner to build the base is not a problem. As they have the proper knowledge and understanding to build a load bearing deck.
You’re right that the base is the most critical (and skilled) part of decking. Laying boards is comparatively straightforward once the subframe is right.

Yes if you specify just what you want done it would be manageable.
Although the joiner in theory could just build the frame for the decking to help you guys out the decking it's self is still not an easy job to complete what with tools you'd need and any joints that would need to be pulled in
Yes a joiner will do just the base, they will do as little or as much as you need
Yes a joiner can definitely build the base for your decking, making sure its level, sturdy and properly supported. This would be a great way to cut costs while still making sure its still done correctly.
Yes I would do the frame work that is the hardest part of the Decking job would be so easy to do just the Decking boards
