Brick slips
Hi I am wanting to brick slip my wall it has recently been sound proofed and plastered and I’ve read online I can’t do this on plastered wall, as it is too smooth and the brick slips will fall off. I’m due to have it painted on Wednesday and need to ask if I should be asking my painter to just mist coat, leave it plastered or paint it fully. Also how much would it be to installed brick slips on a wall that is 165x91 inches? Thanks

Option 2: Use a wire mesh or a textured backing board. Attach it to the plastered wall, and then apply the brick slips to the mesh or board.
Option 3: Remove the plaster entirely and expose the underlying brickwork. Then apply the brick slips directly to the bricks.
Painting Over Brick Slips:
If you plan to paint the brick slips, follow these steps:
Step 1: Mist coat the brick slips. A mist coat is a diluted layer of emulsion paint (about 50% water and 50% paint). It helps the surface absorb subsequent layers of paint.
Step 2: Once the mist coat is dry, apply your desired paint color over the brick slips.

6mm cement board on top first. £600 plus materials for fitting of the slips £200 for the cement board (plus materials)
if the wall is painted with a Uni bond solution
the brick slips will not fail when stuck on the wall . let the solution dry first
The brick slips will not fall of as the advice is extremely strong . however it is recommended to paint the wall with a UniBond solution for maximum adhesion do not paint the wall this will only cause future problems making some of the brick slips come loose
the cost of the work i would put a cost of £450-£500 to install brick slips to a wall of that size
