Removal of old back boiler from fireplace
We recently bought a house and have taken off the plasterboard which was covering the fireplace. This has revealed what we think is an old back boiler. It all seems to be disconnected. How would we go about removing? Seems they've also thrown I bricks?

If it’s all disconnected you will be able to remove it. Might need to build some brick back to secure the void left.
First check that the old boiler is redundant if so cut back the lead pipes as far back as possible remove the said back boiler and brick up as required or if using as a gas fire form a new chamber by bricking up either side and fitting a lintel to Mt's standard

It's an old fire place it's heavy and just needs taken out the plasters woodend remove a brick layer wood have put bricks in to backfill and then plaster over it 2 man lift
double check the boiler is not connected to any electrical water or gas works . ensure they arent connected before removing anything . aslong as it has been made safe to remove by a corgi registered trademan . then any competant person can then take it off .
The back boiler will more then likely be isolated but best to get a plumber to check.. if so then simply cut through the lead pipes and remove the unit.
