Is it safe to overboard asbestos artex?

We have a few Asbestos Artex ceilings which we want smoothing as they're cracking, we had a quote from a plasterer and they said we'd need to overboard because the cracks will come through if skimmed. I'm just concerned about drilling into the Artex when putting up the plasterboard or finding the joists, is this safe to do?

No sorry. If desurb cieling you breaking the building reg
But paint the cieling with blue grit 24 hour ahead off skimming .or bonding skimming if pattern uneven

As long as you don't disturb asbestos

Used to do this a lot for Cardiff council ..
there’s different grades of aspestos.. there is a company that can call out to test the artex but other than that overboard ceiling but wear a good mask when bashing through to find where the joists are.. and keep windows open and doors shut

It can be done by someone who have permission for that sort of job

Yes the asbestos only becomes dangerous when you start ripping it out so wear resperator. But you can skim over it just means putting thicker coat of skim
