Water in vent pipes?

Is there supposed to be water in the vent pipe for the kitchen. The drain from the kitchen outside has water in it, the main drain is ok but pipe from the kitchen always seems to have water. I was under the impression it shouldn’t.

Advice from 5 local tradespeople

The kitchen sink trap should have water in it to stop smells coming up. If there is water in a waste pipe the fall of the pipe is not sufficient

We have a block somewhere

The outside drain from kitchen is a trap.
It's designed to help stop bad smells from sewer system.
If the drain was clear and empty, you would see either a 'U'bend (similar to a toilet) or a type of cup. Water sits in this to prevent smells.
Hope this helps.

What do you mean by “ vent pipe “ ?
The water could be condensation If it’s a ventilation pipe . That’s normal

This should be clear possibly due to incorrect positioning
