Best material for flat bay window roof & quote advice?

We have had a roofer round to look at our bay window roof which has a fairly large crack in the leadwork. He has provided quotes for replacing the existing boards (which are apparently sodden after a rainy weekend) and the roof covering itself plus lead. What's the best material to go for here - both in terms of longevity and appearance? I am a bit concerned that rubber could look ugly and out of place in a Victorian terrace. 75% of the other houses have lead and the rest look to have felt - which looks pretty awful.

My opinion would be rubber it’s very long lasting and looks a lot better than felt.

Fibreglass is the best solution 100% in my eyes

Hi there I would say a 3 layer felt system as it is durable in hot/cold weather and it’s life time is 25+ years

I would roccomend Firestone rubber cover comes with a nice set of trims, but if you don't like the look of it can go back with lead

Have you considered putting a lightweight slated roof instead of lead or other materials. There is every chance your main roof is slated so the canopy should blend in nicely with a used slate. I am assuming it's only a smallish canopy so not many slates would be required but you would require some timber work to support the slate roofing etc. Hope that Helps.

Lead are the best to use also last longer and got more for the money worth

Hi there , grp ( grey fibreglass) is the best option

Hi I would say lead done properly would look amazing it would have to be rolled and cleated etc,but don’t dismiss rubber it’s very good and guaranteed for 30 years I think it’s a brilliant product so both products are up to the job, hope this helps and good luck

Lead work would be the best to keep the in keeping of the style and age of the property of course this will be expensive rubber is a great product and with the trims it looks very neat and tidy on any property

Best thing is to relay boards and use breathable underfelt and top layer of bitumen felt

fiberglass or new lead
