Gas fire requires heat proof plasterboard

I have just had my open gas fire replaced with a new, glass fronted one. There was a lot of smoke the first time I used it and my gas engineer says that the plasterboard around the fire needs to be replaced with fireproof material. What tradesman would do this?

Advice from 2 local tradespeople

Having recently done this to my fireplace for the second time (wife wanted larger open gas fire) i would suggest a general builder with experience in roofing and general plumbing only because im a roofer with that background and had no problems and get a gas safe engineer (the one fitting the fire) to check the air flow a gas spillage

We are a home improvement team fire prof are really exspensive each bore would be £50
