Pva won't stick
Plasterer is painting pva to painted walls...ready for plastering. .
But pva is not sticking to paint...it's reacting to what ever paint has been used...any solutions?

Strip the paint back as much as possible
Try using sbr first or scrapping paint off
Febond blue grit. Apply 24hrs before wanting to skim with a brush or roller. It can be pricey but is extremely good. Some paint such as kitchen paint for instance can make pva and skim very hard. The blue grit sets and give a nice key for the skim.
First check the wall, apply pva and plaster ..... after this start painting
Clean the surface, scratch the paint gently giving 2coat of stronger pva given some time in between the coats
You can use a pva called Thistle Bond-it
This has a grit in to use on low suction backgrounds
A great solution to this is to buy blue grit and apply to the walls which will stick to basically anything and gives us a good key to plaster onto
If its been painted with lime it needs to be washed down and then glued.
Pva won't stick on paint, you need to get SBR Its nether tip off pva
The easier solution is to try blue grit and allow 24 hours to dry then skim.if this dont work use course sand papper to score the paint ..if not desired then remove old plastering
If the paint is flaking try taking it off, if not use blue grit
It's because there is low to no suction in the walls due to type of paint he needs thistle bond it or dry line the wall
Some times a high gloss paint can stop the PVA working and runs down the wall and want go off. When you have walls like this it’s best to use a blue grit prime as this product adheres to the surface and also gives it a key
Blue grit the wall then over skim the wall
The paint could well be of a distemper finish. Use a water based stain block. One good coat should do it.
There is a material called blue grit this will be your best bet
Does the paint have a gloss to it? For non porous surfaces use Feb blue grit. Apply with a brush or roller to required area leave overnight then skim straight on top
Theres an adhesive you can buy called blue grit. It's like a semi bonding mixture that sticks on the wall, then skimming is easy grip.
