Do I need to plaster?
I have taken coving of wall/ ceiling and there is now a space ( about 3 mm) should I fill it in or leave it?

Between the plaster on the wall and the ceiling? As long as it's just in the plaster and not a sign of structural movement it's fine like that, only a decorative issue.
Just fill the gap let in dry sand it down jobs a good one.

Well if don't look nice you need to fill it in.
No i wouldnt say you need to plaster I would say a bit of filler and decorating would be good

You will need to skim ceiling and walls and scrim tape the gap to do it right or you could scrim tape gap and have it plastered feathering in to ceiling and wall but you will notice the line where new and old plaster meet
You can either put new coving up to cover the gap or you would need to fibre tape the joint along the ceiling/wall....apply pva along both ceiling and wall area that has to be patched in....while pva is tacky apply multi finish to ceiling and wall....run an angle trowel along to give you a sharp corner....polish to a finish
It can be filled with easy fill but depending on how fussy you are or how much your willing to spend whether you skim whole walls or not your choice
For the sake of 3mm buy some caulking and just run a tight bead down the gap

Like any project all finishing is up to you but as well it definitely depend on how it looks ..most hole and unsightly edges often is first seen by visitors or buyer ...for sale or happy home I would professionally fill the job and make look great and
you can fill it but wont look that good when u paint it

Get some easy fill, fill gaps & sand down, be easier and cheaper
