Skip Removal

We had a landscaper come to do some work on our garden but they were awful and so we terminated the arrangement with them. They hired a skip which is on our driveway, but they haven’t arranged collection despite us asking repeatedly. The skip is rusty and battered and doesn’t have a company name or number on it. How do we get it removed?!

Advice from 20 local tradespeople

Send a formal email or letter to company who hired it first. State that you are going to have the skip removed by a waste removal company and and liability lies completely with them.

Ring the local council

Ring the council they will come and remove

Find where the skip has come from call and explain the situation

I would ring round local skip companies and give your address and see if it’s them who is booked the skip out to you

Contact your local council and or trading standards to trace the said workers who will help to locate the skip hire firm.

You need to contact the person in breaking to you

Call the skip company and they should arrange skip removal

If you send your contact details I will try and help

You could either ask the company you terminated for the details of the skip hire company, or wait and the skip hire company will turn up to collect the skip.

Contact them who did the landscape job

In a situation like this, if you have a written agreement, then go to trading standards as a last resort.

I would always advise a client to contact a previous tradesman in writing at least 3 times on recorded postage. Should that fail then either new tradesman or trading standards can help get it sorted.

Call a local scrap man he will probably collect free

I would call the local skip, hire and ask. If they re on the skip to send a photo on.

Phone around to try and find company or you mite get charged to replace the skip

U can phone the local council

Best thing to do is to take pictures of the skip from all angles and the waste inside from the top then email all the local skip hire companies within a 10 miles radius starting with the closest company from your property and write in the email that the skip has been on your drive with the waste inside and you can’t find out who’s skip it is so would you like to come collect it with the waste in for free , your find skip companies will be crying out for skips very soon and the best bit is the company who it belongs too will probably tell you it’s there’s , we all know our own assets usually.
He them to collect it or any other company that comes back to you first
Thanks lee

If no reply from workers you employed find a removal company that will take skips some will take for free as can sell on

If a contractor has ordered a skip and left it at your property following you terminating the contract with them. You need to give the landscaper a deadline in writing to remove the skip or you will arrange removal and disposal and reclaim the costs associated to this inconvenience.

Your best bet would be to phone all the local skip companies to see if it’s there skip. If it doesn’t belong to any of the local skip companies hire someone to get rid of the waste, cut the skip into small pieces and offer to scrap man. Hope this helps.
