Used gloss paint instead of undercoat - how to rectify?
just fitted a new pine door and instead of using an undercoat a gloss coat was used. How do you rectify the mess?

Let the gloss dry completely(2weeks) before trying to do anything.
After that you will hand to sand it down, start with undercoat and put the gloss after that, hope it helps
You need to rub down new paint again , once it's a couple of days old, and start again , repaint with a coat of undercoat then your top coat, I've always used satin , but others like gloss, hope it answers your question, If you require a tradesman let me know many thanks steve

slightly sand it and prime with Zinsser sealant/primer. That will give perfect surface to paint your 3 coats of paint
Sand back all the gloss shine out of the wood then use any wood prime quick dry undercoat then use satin wood for a mid sheen or you can use gloss never undercoat with gloss straight away
If you use a p80 grade sand paper and spend as long as you can sanding all of the sheen (shiny bits) off. Then use a dusting brush to remove any particles of dust and paint from the surface and then apply first coat of your undercoat.
Stick an undercoat over that then gloss
Give it a undercoat again then final coat.
