Bad smelling paint?

I painted my room with deluxe Matt emulsion from a tin which was opened last October. I started to notice a funny smell but stupidly continued to use it. That was three weeks ago. I used a fresh tin of Dulux in the hope it would cover the smell but it’s made no difference. The smell is rancid and awful any ideas how I can seal the walls.

Depends what kind of material you paint and what's under the paint.

Personally I would undercoat the walls and paint again to stop the smell and the undercoat access a seal

best way is to buy paint remover( chemical). Remove paint, then coat of stabiliser, coat of primer and 2 coats of paint. That will do

try washing the walls with a mixture of 1 part bleach to 10 parts water, then rinse with plain water and a clean sponge. Allow the walls to dry completely. Follow with an odor-sealing primer. You may need to apply two coats before repainting with fresh (unspoiled) paint.

Just let the wall completely dry and leave all window open, should be fine once the smell gone.
