Can matt emulsion cover Silk emulsion?

Can Matt emulsion be used to cover walls and ceiling presently painted in Silk emulsion?

Advice from 11 local tradespeople

No

Will be very hard to cover silk with emulsion paint. The best way is probably to either use paint stripper to get it off the walls or undercoat it twice and then use emulsion

Yes but it will need a good key (sand)

Yes at can

Yes will cover

It can but the silksame shine will show through therefore use a primer then emulsion I would have your room looking pristine

Hi matt emulsion will paint kn top of silk but like in all cases where redecorating the existing silk walls will need sanded to key the wall for further applications of any paint.

Yes. You definitely can use matt emulsion to cover silk

I tend to coat up with Vinyl Matt Emulsion before coating up the Matt Emulsion. Silk is a lot more resistant to water, almost repelling it in some cases and can lead to extended drying times and peeling paint

Give walls and ceiling a good rub down and then apply the matt emulsion 2/3 coats

Yes johnstone coverplus 2 coats will do the job
