Builder has walked of the site. What do I do now?
My builder has walked of the nearly completed building site leaving some of his equipment and a whole lot of rubbish. Can i sell his equipment to pay for the rubbish to be removed?

No you cannt sell his equipment.. but you can write him a letter and explain how you feel and give him set time to correct the job.. and as then state if you have to arrange it you will forward the charge to him ok...

You can’t, this would be classed as theft. Communication is key he re, talk to one another, compromise. Something has caused him to walk, I would suggest keeping your cool, speaking to him nicely but be straight to the point. Perhaps suggest deducting rubbish clearance from the final payment? It’s not a great situation to be in, but try and find the root of him walking in the first place.
Take out a ccj no doubt has had majority of money and little left for him to receive on completion contracts and stage payment if your struggling I'm willing to be your night in shining armour and finish all those lose ends #Money on completion
I’d get in touch with the builder before doing that or get the rubbish removed and send the form a bill. Hope it gets resolved thanks Luke
You have to give the builder notice on what you plan on doing, ie selling tools and give reasonable time for him to collect. If he fails to turn up in that period time then you can to replenish storage cost.
Not really as they belong to the builder and not you you would be better of taking him to a small claims court or hold his tools till he gives you some money back or he completes the job

I am not sure what agreement you had in place with your building contractor but if you did have a contract then there should be a term and condition within the contract which explains what your recourse is for his or disappearance. I am not entirely sure whether you can sell his equipment legally or not so I would seek an opinion from a solicitor regarding that. Or if you are still communicating with the builder then why not come to some amicable arrangement to remove his rubbish for the sale of his equipment but get his acceptance first.

I would suggest put his kit in a safe secure place and give him the chance to come and complete before any other action .
